Key Dates for Hourly Student Workers

Academic Year 2023–24

August 13, 2023 — End of AY22–23 summer positions
- Summer positions must end by August 13
- HR will end all AY22–23 hourly positions with start dates before August 14
August 14, 2023 — Federal Work Study period begins
- Hourly students may begin working in their AY23–24 positions starting August 14

December 18, 2023 — Last day of finals
- Graduating international students may not work as student workers beyond the last day of finals
December 20, 2023 — Fall grades due
- Graduating domestic students may not work as student workers beyond the submission of final grades

May 5, 2024 — Federal Work Study period ends
- Hourly students working beyond May 5 will be charged 100% to the department budget
- Hourly student workers are permitted to continue working in their AY23–24 positions until May 19 (Note: May 19 date end date is pending publication of the 2024 bi-weekly payroll calendar)
May 6, 2024 — Summer position start date
- Summer positions can start effective May 6 and must end by August 11
May 7, 2024 — Last day of finals
- Graduating international students may not work as student workers beyond the last day of finals
May 12, 2024 — Commencement
- Graduating domestic students may not work as student workers beyond commencement
May 20, 2024 — Summer position start date (Note: May 20 start date is pending publication of the 2024 bi-weekly payroll calendar)
- Current students continuing to work after May 19 will need to have a new hourly student position using summer effective dates (May 20–August 11)
- HR will end all AY23–24 positions that started before May 6

August 11, 2024 — End of AY23–24 summer positions
- Summer positions must end by August 11
- HR will end all AY2023 hourly positions with start dates before August 12
