Managing in a Hybrid Workplace

Hybrid/virtual work is our new reality — one that provides an opportunity to revisit how we do the work we do. We can learn new ways to tackle old challenges and meet new challenges in creative ways. The learning options below will help you thrive as a leader in a hybrid workplace.

The instructor-led and on-demand options cover a variety of relevant topics including building rapport, communicating virtually, delegation, employee retention (including stay interviews), leading in a hybrid workplace, presenting virtually, virtual team building and more.

The Staff Supervisory Awareness Program explores the fundamental tools and resources needed to lead and supervise others effectively and successfully. The course content encompasses a broad range of core human resources knowledge critical to your success as a supervisor.

While managing in a hybrid workplace provides unique challenges, the program as a whole is valuable for any new or experienced supervisor. The following sessions address content that is particularly valuable for leading hybrid teams:

DDI Development Resources include two libraries of learning and development resources for staff and faculty at CMU. Available via single sign-on, DDI's online learning library (Pinpoint) provides access to over 50 on demand courses covering a diverse range of topics including those highlighted below. Search by course name:

  • Leading Virtual Meetings

Teams are also able to schedule instructor-led training sessions ($100/participant for materials). Leading Virtually leads the current options that also include Coaching, Connect through Communications, Creating an Inclusive Environment and Embracing Change.
