Ordering Materials from the FMS Storeroom

Facilities Management Services (FMS) employees and others at Carnegie Mellon can order materials from the FMS Storeroom. A work order number from an approved service request and a department charge string must be provided to make the storeroom order. Once you have that information, you may order the materials. Orders can be picked up at the storeroom window on the 2nd Floor of the FMS Building.

How to Order In-Stock Items

  • Open the storeroom catalog.
  • If you are an FMS employee, select Your Name. If you are not an FMS employee, select "Not Listed" and type your name.
  • Use the Item/Description or Item Category field to search for and select your item(s). Indicate the desired quantity and click the "Add" button for each.
  • Enter work order number(s) in your shopping cart. The item quantity can also be changed here.
  • View/Print Order: On the preview page, make sure your email address and order are correct.
  • Submit Order: Clicking the "Send Order" button will submit the order and email a copy of it to you.

How to Special Order Non-Stocked Items

  • Open the Special Order Request form.
  • If you are an FMS employee, select Your Name. If you are not an FMS employee, select "Not Listed" and type your name.
  • Select your "Ship To" location.
  • Enter the item description, desired quantity and work order number.
  • Select the "Add to Order" button.
  • Add more items, if desired. 
  • View and/or print your order to make sure your information is correct.
  • Submit your order.
