Campus Reuse Opportunities
Scotty's Surplus is an online exchange platform to reuse, repurpose, and recirculate university property items that may have otherwise gone to landfill. Platform use is currently just for CMU staff and faculty.
Use of this program supports CMU's waste reduction goals by reducing the need for new goods and keeping existing good out of the landfill. We encourage all staff and faculty to visit this platform frequently and check for used items before purchasing new.
Scotty SIPS is a reusable cup program to reduce single-use packaging waste on campus. CMU students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and guests can bring a clean, reusable cup to any participating dining location and receive a $0.25 discount when purchasing an eligible beverage.
The Whatever Drive is CMU's annual effort to divert unwanted, but still good items from landfills when students move out at the end of the academic year. Items are instead donated to campus initiatives and local community partners.
