Bio
Danelle Belau has called the Pittsburgh area home for 19 years. Originally from Nebraska, she earned a BS in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She began her teaching career in 2002 and has taught in a variety of classroom settings including: K-2 multi-age, Early Childhood ELL, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Head Start.
After taking a hiatus from teaching to stay at home with her own children, she decided to get back into the field and spent a year substitute teaching in the greater-Pittsburgh area, teaching all subject areas and all grades K-6.
Danelle and her husband, Dave, have two children. Her daughter is a junior at Iowa State University, pursuing a degree in biology. Her son is a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University, pursuing a degree in musical performance.
Danelle is an avid reader, gardener, and cook. She reads over 50 books a year and enjoys trying new recipes (often using what she's grown herself). She and her family enjoy the outdoors by hiking, biking, and kayaking. Passionate about dog rescue, much of their time is spent taking care of their 3 dogs: a mini dachshund, a staffy mix, and a retriever mix.
