Bio

Estelle Cherin grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Ohio University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading and English. She took classes at the University of Pittsburgh towards her Master's degree.  Her professional experiences include teaching Kindergarten, third and fifth grade Social Studies and fourth grade Science at Saint Edmund's Academy for three years. After her sons were school age, Estelle resumed her career at the Jewish Community Center where she taught three-year-olds in the preschool for 12 years and four-year-olds in the Amazing Afternoons program for two years. This is her twenty-third year at the Children's School.  After teaching four-year olds full time, this is the second year Estelle will be teaching on a part-time basis.

Both of Estelle's sons are Children's School alumni. Joel, living in Los Angeles, an entertainment writer, is married to Karen Kaplan Solomon, a fashion stylist, and has an eleven-year-old daughter. Steven, living in Washington D.C, is an Assistant Chief Inspector for the Federal Government, and is married to Keisha Robinson-Solomon, an attorney for the District of Columbia. Steven and Keisha have a son who recently celebrated his sixth birthday and a four-year-old daughter. Her grandchildren are a source of great happiness! Estelle's husband, Steven, is a business and transactions attorney with his own firm. Estelle enjoys cooking, dining in restaurants, reading, gardening, the performing arts, travel, walking, playing golf, and seeing the world through the eyes of children!  Estelle and Steven are proud supporters and volunteers for 412 Food Rescue and The Free Store.
