Carnegie Mellon University

Technical Issues

I cannot log into Lynda.com as discussed in the course. I keep getting redirected to the public website.

In order to take advantage of the university's subscription, you'll need to login on CMU's specific lynda.com Web page (CMU Lynda) and not the public website.

I cannot log into Academic OneFile (or other library resources).

In order to access several of the resources referenced in the course you need to: 1) Physically be on CMU's network, or 2) Access the resource using EZproxy or AnyConnect VPN if you're off-campus. For additional information about logging into EZproxy or VPN, please see the university's library site Connecting from off campus.

I get an error message when I try to connect to Virtual Andrew.

For information about Virtual Andrew, please see the Computing Services Virtual Andrew FAQ website.

The course asks me to log into my library account using the Student ID number and Card ID number found on my Andrew ID card. How do I log in if I don't have my ID card yet?

You can access your Carnegie Mellon ID and PIN number on Student Information Online (SIO). Once you log into your SIO, click on My Info at the top. Then, on the right-hand column, it says View your Student ID & Card ID. Use the Card ID to login into your library account. And the last four digits of your Card ID are your PIN number.

What should I do if my Internet connection drops while I'm submitting an assignment?

If something interrupts your submission of an assignment, such as your Internet connection dropping, you can start a new attempt or email c-cm@andrew.cmu.edu and ask to have the assignment reset. Most assessments allow at least 2 attempts by default, so you should be able to start another attempt without emailing the C@CM staff.

I completed required coursework but the blue progress bar is not showing that I've done it. What should I do?

If you believe you have completed a module but the blue progress bar is not full, try clicking one of the Collapse All buttons.
