Use Virtual Andrew

Virtual Andrew provides remote access to a Windows Computer Lab machine image with a variety of academic software titles. You can access Virtual Andrew from a Windows, Mac, Linux iOS or Android device. The applications you access do not need to be installed on your computer, however, you will need to install the VMware View client.

Note: Linux OS must use the Web Client

Step 1: Install VMware View

  1. Download the appropriate VMware View Client.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. Enter virtual.andrew.cmu.edu for the Default Connection Server.
  5. Check Show in Options menu in the Enhanced Single Sign On window.
  6. Restart when prompted.

Step 2: Connect to Virtual Andrew

  1. Open the VMware Client application.
  2. Double-click the virtual.andrew.cmu.edu connection.
  3. Log in with your Andrew userID and password.
  4. Domain is Andrew.
  5. Double-click Virtual Andrew.
  6. Log off via the Options menu.

Step 1: Install VMware View

  1. Download the VMware View Client.
  2. Double-click the downloaded installer file and drag the VMWare View Client to your Applications folder.

Step 2: Connect to Virtual Andrew

  1. Open the VMware Client app.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions. 
  3. Enter virtual.andrew.cmu.edu for Connection Server.
  4. Log in with your Andrew userID and password.
  5. Domain is Andrew.
  6. Log off via the Disconnect button (plug icon).
  1. Install the VMware View Client from the Apple App Store.  
  2. Launch the app.
  3. Use virtual.andrew.cmu.edu for Connection Server.
  4. Log in with your Andrew userID and password.
  1. Install the VMware View Client from Google Play.  
  2. Launch the app.
  3. Use virtual.andrew.cmu.edu for Connection Server.
  4. Log in with your Andrew userID and password.
