New Lab Members Joining Fall 2026
In September 2026, the lab welcomes Yuxuan Cai as a lab RA and Ai Engineer and Sarah Lim as a Learning Engineer RA. Both will provide support for various on-going lab projects.
Prof. Liang to present lab work at Singapore Accounting Symposium
Prof. Pierre Liang will present lab's work at the Singapore Accounting Symposium 2026, jointly organized by Singapore Management University and the National University of Singapore, on December 11, 2026.
Lab Publishes First Annual Report
The Accounting AI Research Lab has released its FY25–26 Annual Report, documenting the lab's first year under its new name: new funding sources, five new working papers, twelve research presentations, and a growing community of faculty, doctoral students, and collaborators across CMU.
Lab Working Paper Presented at the Stanford (SITE) Conference 2026
Prof. Pierre Liang presented the lab's research on Entropic Uncertainty at the 2026 Stanford Institute for Theoretical Economics (SITE) to be held September 2–4, 2026, at Stanford University. The paper is co-authored with Prof. Bo Sun of UVA and lab's doctoral student Ziyi Yang (Tepper).
Double-entry bookkeeping work remembered in newest Ijiri memorial
A memorial article on the life and scholarship of Yuji Ijiri (1935–2017) has been completed by Professor Pierre Liang, a faculty member and lab director of the Accounting AI Research Lab, together with co-authors Martin E. Persson (Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and Shyam Sunder (Yale School of Management, Yale University). Titled "Yuji Ijiri (1935–2017): Measurement, Accountability, and Accounting as a Social Institution."
