Announcing the Vice Provost for Academic Budget and Financial Planning
Dear Members of the Carnegie Mellon Community:
I am pleased to announce that Mary Glasscock has been appointed the new vice provost for academic budget and financial planning, effective December 1, 2024.
Mary brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role. She joins us from Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC), where she has served in various leadership capacities over the last 15 years, including chief financial officer, chief operating officer and, most recently, vice president of operations, administration and strategic initiatives. A member of the GU finance administration since 2002, Mary has a demonstrated track record of strategic financial planning, budget management and aligning resources to support academic priorities.
In this role, Mary will help shape the strategic direction of budget and financial planning for academic units under the Office of the Provost. She will collaborate with deans, associate deans, department heads and other academic leaders to develop and improve the university's academic budgeting. Additionally, she will provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support the provost's office and university leadership. This role is truly instrumental as the university strives to efficiently allocate resources in support of our academic mission.
I thank search committee co-chairs Brent Carothers, associate vice president for budget and financial planning in the Finance Division, and Becky Culyba, vice provost for strategic initiatives and chief of staff to the provost, as well as the entire search committee, for their diligence in leading a thorough search process. Their expertise and collaboration throughout the process were critical in identifying Mary for this role.
Please join me in congratulating Mary and welcoming her to Carnegie Mellon.
Sincerely,
James H. Garrett Jr.
Provost and Chief Academic Officer
