Carnegie Mellon University

October 28, 2018

Dear CMU Faculty and Staff,

As stated earlier by President Jahanian, our hearts are broken by today’s senseless tragedy in our nearby community.

In response to today’s tragic event, Carnegie Mellon University’s Office of Human Resources has arranged counseling for faculty and staff through the Employee Assistance Program. Employees who are in need of counseling should call the Employee Assistance Program at 844-744-1370 (Password: Carnegie). The service is available 24 hours daily. Please note there may be delays due to the volume of calls; however, please stay on the line until a counselor is available.

Additionally, Human Resources has made arrangements for in-person counseling sessions from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Career Interview Center on the lower level of the Cohon University Center. Counselors also will be available on campus at this same location Monday, October 29, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

For more information on the Employee Assistance Program, see the Human Resources website.

It has been an extremely difficult day for our community. Moving forward, please take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Rodney P. McClendon
