Qatar Leadership Program

In January 2024, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) successfully launched CMULead – Qatar. While modeled after the domestic CMULead program, this new leadership program was developed in collaboration with the HR team in Qatar throughout much of 2023. Leveraging focus group discussions with leaders in Qatar including potential program participants, OHR customized the program content for CMU-Q leaders.

The program blends classroom instruction (virtual and in-person) with guest speaker presentations covering key leadership competencies and concepts including communication and work styles, team building and dynamics, emotional intelligence, foundational leadership strategies, continuous improvement, effective delegation, creating a positive culture, productive and difficult conversations, intercultural communications and more. The inaugural program wraps up with a graduation ceremony in April 2024.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of CMU-Qatar and the Qatar Foundation, the program welcomed participants from peer institutions in Education City (Cornell and Virginia Commonwealth University), CMU-Africa, the Qatar Foundation and the Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press. This diversity adds to the impact of the program, promoting connections between leaders across these organizations.
