Donations Needed: Necessity Clothing Drive
Carnegie Mellon recently launched three Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): Sankofa — Black Faculty and Staff Alliance, LGBTQIA+ Faculty and Staff Alliance and the Veterans Alliance. The overarching purpose of these groups is to unite staff and faculty to a common cause and to provide a structured framework for awareness opportunities for members in line with CMU’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. In addition, ERGs act as a conduit for outreach efforts for the local community. With this mission in mind, together, these newly-formed ERGs are sponsoring a Necessity Clothing Drive in partnership with Familylinks, an organization based in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh with a mission “to positively impact lives through integrated community, behavioral, and social programs.”
With your generous support, we are collecting the following necessities (must be new with tags): hats, gloves, socks and undergarments in men's, women's and children's sizes. Items can be dropped off December 1 and 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Wean Commons in the Cohon University Center. 30-minute free parking is available in the East Campus Garage.
For those unable to come to campus, donations can be made online through November 29 via the Necessity Clothing Drive Wishlist.
