HR Family Care Resources

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) offers a variety of programs and resources for CMU community members who have child and/or dependent care needs. Through our dedicated family care concierge specialists, OHR is here to help you and your family navigate the various dependent care options available to faculty, staff and graduate students.

We understand how important it is for families to make decisions about dependent related care, especially during the ongoing pandemic and the return to on-campus work. Fortunately, OHR offers a wide range of services for families to explore:

  • The Concierge Service: Through the Concierge Service, any CMU-affiliated family can get personalized, one-on-one assistance on various dependent care related topics, including child care and elder care. Simply email hrfamilycare@andrew.cmu.edu with the details of your request or needs, and a family care concierge specialist will find programs, resources and organizations that can support your family.
  • CareLink: This online marketplace allows members of the CMU community to both post jobs and look for jobs. For parents, this can mean finding a babysitter or nanny, joining a learning pod or connecting with virtual tutors to provide some added enrichment.
  • Care@Work: Eligible CMU faculty, staff and graduate students can access a free premium membership for Care.com. You can use this membership to find a nanny, form a learning pod, find elder care, find help with housekeeping, and even access 15 emergency backup care days. Additionally, LifeMart, a program available through your Care@Work subscription, offers discounts on a variety of services related to senior care, child care, travel, home and auto, and pet care. These offers are subject to change and may not be accepted by all providers.
  • Family and Child Care Resources: This webpage provides helpful links for families as well as custom content and resource guides created by the concierge specialists based on the needs they have seen.
