Two-Step Verification for Vanguard Account Access
In early 2019, retirement savings plan participants will be required to sign up for two-step verification security codes to perform certain actions on the Vanguard website.
The two-step verification process sends participants a single-use security code they will enter along with their user name and password when they log on to vanguard.com or Vanguard’s mobile apps. Participants can choose to receive security codes through a text message or automated phone call. Once enrolled, participants can choose to use a security code every time they log on to their account or only when Vanguard does not recognize their computer or device.
An exception process exists for clients who do not have access to a phone to receive a text message or automated call. Participants living outside the United States will be excluded from mandatory two-step verification since Vanguard is unable to text or call them.
