Excel Program (Pilot)

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) has partnered with the Community College of Allegheny County to develop an Excel training program. Based on consultation with the Finance Division, the program consists of two Excel courses that focus on key concepts to promote effective and practical use of Excel. The pilot launched in March 2022 and with 10 participants/class.

Advanced Excel Course Topics

Functions and Formulas Reference Functions

  • Basic function syntax (writing functions)

  • Index-match functions
  • Reference Functions
  • VLookup/HLookup functions

The goal of these courses is to ensure that participants can successfully apply the Excel skills learned to practical applications within CMU’s business environment. Since this is a pilot program, OHR and Finance will administer post-session assessments to gauge the success and value of the training. If the feedback indicates a positive learning experience and outcomes, OHR plans to expand this training on a larger scale and define the nomination process and criteria as the program expands.
