Carnegie Mellon University

Online Banking

Online banking is the fastest, easiest, and most convenient way to make a payment to or receive a refund from the university.

A student can register a U.S. bank account to their student account via Student Information Online (SIO) and make payments with a click of a button. Refunds can be electronically deposited into the same account, too.

The university will not initiate a withdrawal from a student's registered bank account. Funds can only be withdrawn when a student schedules a payment through SIO.

Getting Started

To get started, you will need to log into SIO and have available a U.S. bank transit routing number, account type and account number.

How to Add or Edit a Bank Account (PDF)

Newly registered accounts are ready to be used immediately. Payments can be scheduled on the same day or up to six (6) months in advance. For same-day processing, payments must be scheduled before 7 p.m. EST. All payments will be reflected on the student account by 8 p.m. EST on the payment date.

To view scheduled, pending or completed online banking payments, log into SIO and select 'Bank Account Activity' under the 'Finances' tab.
