Carnegie Mellon University

Credit & Debit Card Payments

The university accepts both credit and debit card payments online through Education Computer Systems, Incorporated (ECSI). Payments made through the ECSI website are subject to a non-refundable convenience fee.

Payments will appear on your credit card and bank statements with a description of “ECSI, LLP” or “ECSI”. Convenience fees may be reflected as a separate line depending on your card type.

For students making a debit card payment from a U.S. checking or savings account, CMU suggests enrolling in Online Banking through Student Information Online (SIO) to make payments instead. Online Banking provides similar functionality to a debit card payment, but free of charge.

Convenience Fees

Credit card payments made through ECSI are subject to a non-refundable convenience fee equal to 2.52%, while debit card payments are subject to a non-refundable convenience fee equal to 0.50%. All convenience fees are charged by and paid directly to ECSI during the payment process.

Denied Payments

If your payment is denied, contact ECSI or your credit card company to determine the reason for the failure.
