*Top marketers to help five startups sparkle

Marc USA and Carnegie Mellon University’s Project Olympus are partnering in Marketing Sparks Thursday. It’s a three-hour event the agency coordinates twice a year to bring senior marketers from local companies and agencies together with entrepreneurs, in this case, five Project Olympus startups. The execs who’ll coach and advise hail from UPMC Health Plan, PNC Financial Services Group Inc. (NYSE: PNC), PPG Industries Inc. (NYSE: PPG), Mylan NV (Nasdaq: MYL), GNC Holdings Inc. (NYSE: GNC), F.N.B. Corp. and Kennametal (NYSE: KMT), as well as Marc and many others. “The growing participation has enabled us to offer Marketing Sparks to an expanded number of startups,” Marc CEO Michele Fabrizi said. It’s the largest group of companies and marketing execs assembled since the event launched in 2014. The startups, which Project Olympus calls PROBEs, short for project-oriented business explorations, are: Expii.com, Flashtag, VIT, Platypus and SimSim.
