Since Project Olympus started in January 2007, we have

Supported 197 student and faculty project initiatives.

Formed 130 companies.

Over $260 million in follow-on funding has been awarded directly to 33 faculty and 71 student projects and companies from university and outside sources. (The $$ figure does not include acquisitions.)

14 companies have received VC funding

1 acquisition by Google, 1 by PDN, 1 by Home Depot, 1 by Turnitin, by Amazon.

9 projects have been granted SBIR/STTR funds.

24 received OFEF Funds (@50K each)


33 have graduated to AlphaLab/Gear; 12 are Innovation Works portfolio companies; 13 are Idea Foundry portfolio companies (Local Programs)


16 graduated into other incubator programs e.g. Plug & Play, LaunchHouse, Kaplan Ed Tech, DreamIt Ventures, Accelprise,YCombinator (Nationwide Programs).


1 Kauffman Innovation Fellowship and 3 Kauffman Commercialization Leadership awards.


56 PROBEs have won over $3.3 million in awards and prizes from competitions.


250+ additional students have participated in Olympus/CIE activities


Over 50 events offered or hosted annually including Olympus' signature Show&Tells, CONNECTS seminars and workshops produced with the DJC, Startup Job Fair, Start Smart legal seminars and workshops offered in conjunction with the Innovation Practice Institute of Pitt's Law School and others.
