Pittsburgh City Council Proclaims July 8 “LifeShel Day"

Pittsburgh City Council recognizes the efforts of LifeShel and its three founders, Alan Fu, Siri Ramos, and Jayon Wang, for their efforts in preventing sexual violence in the Pittsburgh community as well as across the world.

LifeShel is a Pittsburgh-based technology start-up company that is developing smartphone cases which integrate deterrent technology with crowd-sourced community support to prevent incidences of sexual assault from occurring.

LifeShel founders, Alan Fu, Siri Ramos, and Jayon Wang, are recent Engineering graduates from  Carnegie Mellon University. During the founders’ time at Carnegie Mellon, they volunteered as Sexual Assault Advisors on campus, where they grew their passion for bringing awareness to sexual assault and preventing its occurrence. Following their graduation, the founders founded LifeShel.  They have fostered close partnerships with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape as well as Carnegie Mellon’s Environmental Health and Safety Group. Additionally, LifeShel’s mission has found allies within the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault due to their aligned goals.

LifeShel will launch its first product to the public in the fall. LifeShel is strongly committed to keeping the company’s manufacturing and location in Pittsburgh.

The official proclamation will be made at 10 a.m. by City Councilman Dan Gilman. The proclamation will be at 414 Grant Street on the Fifth Floor. The LifeShel founders and team along with The Pittsburgh Action Against Rape CEO, Alison Hall, will be in attendance.
