• Adam Lazarus, who received his Masters in Professional Writing from the Department of English in 2006, has published his first solo-authored book, "Super Bowl Monday: The New York Giants, the Buffalo Bills, and Super Bowl XXV."  Last year, Lazarus co-authored "Chasing Greatness: Johnny Miller, Arnold Palmer, and the Miracle at Oakmont" with History Professor Steven Schlossman. • Andrew Shaindlin, associate vice president for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, was one of six advancement professionals chosen to design and deliver the inaugural Asia-Pacific Institute in Alumni Relations, held in Singapore Aug. 2-5. The intensive training program for aspiring alumni relations professionals from across Asia attracted 46 participants from 15 countries. The program was sponsored by the Singapore office of the Council for Advancement & Support of Education.
• ETC Executive Producer Don Marinelli was the keynote speaker at the Duquesne University School of Leadership and Professional Advancement graduation ceremony on Aug. 6. Marinelli earned a master's degree in clinical psychology from Duquesne in 1976. The dean of Duquesne's School of Leadership and Professional Development is Dorothy Bassett, who was formerly with the Executive Education program at CMU's Tepper School of Business.
• The New Pittsburgh Courier has recognized Colleen McMullen, executive director of the Diversity Strategies & Programs at the Tepper school of Business, as one of their 2011 Women of Excellence. This distinction recognizes African American women from the Pittsburgh region for their significant contributions to the community and business world. 50 recipients, total, were officially honored at a luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 11.  
• Swimmer Molly Evans (S'11) is one of two nominees from the University Athletic Association (UAA) for 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year honors, which recognizes student-athletes for academic achievement and athletic excellence. During her career, Evans, a biology major who graduated with a 4.0 grade point average, was a three-time UAA champion, set nine individual school records and was a member of four record-setting relay teams. She earned three All-America and eight honorable mention All-America awards. The NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced Oct. 16.
