Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon University To Celebrate Appointment of Farnam Jahanian as President

Event: Members of the media are invited to join the Carnegie Mellon University community in celebrating the appointment of Farnam Jahanian as the university's 10th president. The event will include remarks from CMU Board of Trustees Chairman James E. Rohr, Presidential Search Committee Co-chair Jeanne VanBriesen and Jahanian.

Following a national search, CMU's board of trustees announced this morning the selection of Jahanian as president, effective immediately. A formal inauguration is scheduled for fall 2018.

Since joining CMU's administration, Jahanian has led a period of accelerating momentum in education and research, at the nexus of technology and human life. He joined the university as vice provost for research in 2014, was named provost in 2015 and has served as interim president since July 2017.

When: noon, Thursday, March 8.

Members of the media are asked to check in upon arrival outside Rangos Ballroom.
