Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon Engineering Students To Host Memorial Cricket Fundraising Game To Honor Pittsburgh Police Officers

Event: The Carnegie Mellon University Cricket Club will host “Pay to Play,” a benefit cricket game to raise money for a memorial to honor fallen Pittsburgh Police officers Eric G. Kelly, Stephen J. Mayhle and Paul J. Sciullo, who were killed responding to a domestic call in the city’s Stanton Heights neighborhood in April 2009.

Pittsburgh Police Zone 4 Commander Kathy Degler will join Carnegie Mellon Police Chief Thomas A. Ogden Jr. and CMU’s 12-member cricket team to pay tribute to the fallen officers with memorial awards, bagpipers, an abbreviated cricket game, the release of peace doves, the raffle of a Steelers team blanket and brunch.

The Carnegie Mellon Cricket Club honor team includes: Sahil Jolly, Shahroz Aziz, Manish Burman, Pankit Chedda, Sidharth Jayadeep, Utkarsh Kanoria, Abhinav Kumar, Gautham Nagaraju, Saketh Pothireddy, Sagar Shah, Dhruv Swaroop and Ajay Nair.

The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served at the event.

When: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 2.
