Event: Carnegie Mellon University researchers will demonstrate Tiramisu, a new, free iPhone app that helps Port Authority of Allegheny County transit riders find out when their bus or light rail vehicle will arrive.  Developed by the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Accessible Public Transportation with help from Carnegie Mellon's Traffic21 initiative, the app enables riders to share information about transit arrival times and conditions. It also will be of particularly help to riders with disabilities.

The app is available through the iTunes AppStore.

A Port Authority representative also will be on hand to answer questions.

When: 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 27

Where: Carnegie Mellon University, Gates and Hillman centers, room 4405 (Raj Reddy Conference Room), located just inside the Forbes Avenue entrance to the Gates and Hillman centers.

Parking is available in the Gates Center parking garage. To reach the garage, take Schenley Drive to Frew Street. From Frew, turn onto campus road Roberts Drive and keep left to follow the road down the hill. At the base of the hill, the black-and-silver Gates Center will be directly ahead and to the left. After parking, take the elevator to the fourth floor and exit straight ahead; the hallway will bend to the left and lead directly to the conference room.
