Media Advisory: Carnegie Mellon’s GM Collaborative Lab To Host Author of New Book Featuring CMU Engineering, Robotics Professors

Event: Carnegie Mellon University’s Raj Rajkumar will host the Fourth Estate Speaker Series featuring award-winning author and journalist William J. Holstein.

Holstein’s new book, “The Next American Economy — Blueprint for a Real Recovery,” features a cache of top CMU professors including Rajkumar, professor of electrical and computer engineering and head of the GM Collaborative Lab; Metin Sitti, professor of mechanical engineering and head of the Nanorobotics Lab; and William “Red” Whittaker, the Fredkin Research Professor of Robotics and chairman and chief technical officer of Astrobotic Technology, Inc.

Holstein, who has written for BusinessWeek, The New York Times and Fortune, will argue that America must find new avenues of cooperation among universities, business and government to create a real economic recovery. Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon are featured in the book’s second chapter, titled “From Steel to Advanced Robots — Pittsburgh Attempts to Reinvent.”
