Bio

Komal (Koh-mull) is a New Jersey native, who loves residing in Pittsburgh and learning about its rich history. She has been passionate about the field of education for as long as she can remember and decided to pursue a career in higher education after tutoring her peers during college. She received her Master’s in Higher Education Administration from Duquesne University and her Bachelor’s in Secondary English Education from Temple University. Prior to beginning her role in the Information Systems Department, she served as the initial point of contact for current and prospective students across five programs at Duquesne University in the School of Education for 4.5 years. She is also actively involved in the National Academic Advising Association and has research interests in student intersectionality and well-being.

In her spare time, she enjoys writing, reading, crafting, binge watching tv, cooking, doing yoga, meditating, and spending time with her friends and family. She is part of a large close-knit family and is an only girl with three brothers. She also has an adorable 5-year old nephew named Owen and a sweet 13-year old cockatiel named Matrix, who she has had since she was a baby.
