The Center for Informed Democracy and Social-cybersecurity at Carnegie Mellon University is interested in hiring a Post-Doctoral Associate.  This Post-Doc position is in online disinformation, hate speech and extremism online using large scale social media data.  The ideal candidate will have a background with some computer science and some social science, experience with network science, python, and social media. This post doc will work with Dr. Carley to examine issues of polarization, social influence, and countering threats in cyberspace. For these projects data would come from multiple social media platforms, be in multiple languages, and include images as well as texts.

 

The successful applicant will work in the IDeaS (Informed Democracy & Social-cybersecurity)center at Carnegie Mellon University in the areas of disinformation, hate speech and extremism online using large scale social media data.  They will also be associated with CASOS (Computational Analysis of Social and Organizational Systems). They will interact with graduate students and undergraduates.  They will take part in the IDeaS and CASOS summer institutes, the IDeaS conference, and the CASOS graduate/postdoc meetings.

Qualifications

Must have a PhD in Computer Science or related field.
