Course Description Verifications

A course description verification letter provides an official university record of course description and profile information outlining course goals, key topics, prerequisite knowledge, and course relevance.  The most common reasons for requesting a course description verification letter include:

  • Employers requesting a description of course content.

  • Alumnus petitioning for permanent residency working with immigration attorney.

  • Students applying for other degree programs.

Please note:

Effective July 31, 2023:  The university no longer produces a letter that states acquired skills, enumerated skills, expertise, or experience not provided in the course description and course profile.  Skills not mentioned in the course description or course profile will not be verified.   A course description verification letter cannot be edited at the request of the student, nor the request of the recipient as this letter serves as an official university record.

Letters will not be produced for a student with outstanding financial or community standard obligations.

To request a course description letter, submit a signed Verification Request (pdf) form and email it to uro-verifications@andrew.cmu.edu.
