Graduate Student Account Adjustment Details

The university has received many inquiries regarding spring 2020 semester student account adjustments and refunds. Carnegie Mellon's leadership recognizes student interest in these important determinations, and we thank you for your patience as multiple university departments and leadership from Graduate Student Assembly provided input for a carefully coordinated effort.

The Transportation Fee will be pro-rated at 50% for all Pittsburgh-campus students. While this decision was made to accommodate those no longer in the area, the pro-rated charge will also extend to those who remain on campus in order to promote social distancing and sheltering in place. Students can use Port Authority Transportation throughout the spring semester, as long as it continues to operate.

The pro-rated fee adjustment will appear on the March invoice that will be distributed April 1. This adjustment may result in a refund for some students; therefore, be sure that you have registered a bank account in Student Information Online (SIO) for electronic refunding. More information about refunds can be found at www.cmu.edu/sfs/billing/refunds.html.

COVID-19 has disrupted regular routines, planning and work for everyone, and we understand there may be financial hardships associated with those disruptions. We encourage students who may be experiencing a financial hardship to contact their liaison in The HUB.

Carnegie Mellon's top priority and focus during this rapidly evolving situation continues to be the health and safety of our community members and delivery of our educational mission. This is an extraordinary time and we appreciate your continued patience as we address the many unforeseen challenges and questions this situation has introduced.

Please continue to take care of yourself and each other, and stay up to date on the university's latest COVID-19 information by regularly visiting www.cmu.edu/alert/coronavirus.
