Meet The HUB Staff

Melissa Skasik

As Director of The HUB, Melissa Skasik manages The HUB team to provide excellent service to our students, families and campus community. In addition to managing the daily operations of The HUB, Melissa is dedicated to student success and retention.

Melissa joined Carnegie Mellon in 2008 as an Assistant Director and has over 20 years of financial aid experience. Melissa works closely with division partners to collaborate and improve process efficiencies and communications. She partners with the campus community to help resolve and address student matters.

A graduate of La Roche University (B.A Psychology), Melissa is a member of the Carnegie Mellon Women’s Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid (PASFAA). She was the 2016 recipient of the Pat Kleyle Staff Recognition Award in Enrollment Services and was nominated for a Carnegie Mellon University Andy Award in 2016 and 2022.

Melissa resides in Pittsburgh with her husband and two sons.

Carey Zehnder

As Associate Director of The HUB, Carey Zehnder - who began his career in The HUB as a student services specialist in 2013 - manages the frontline HUB staff and scheduling. Carey also manages ID card services, including audit and disaster recovery business continuity initiatives. Emily Ball

As Assistant Director of The HUB, Emily Ball will handle in-depth inquiries and counsel students and families on financial aid, billing and registration matters. Emily's advising load includes the College of Fine Arts and Dietrich College, as well as interdisciplinary programs, ETC, BXA, BHA, and student-defined majors/programs. Joining The HUB in 2019 as a Student Services Specialist, Emily brings a breadth of experience in higher education, including serving as an evaluator for the San Diego Community College District, as well as her previous role as an academic advisor for the College of Charleston. Emily received her bachelor of arts in English from East Tennessee State University, her “home” state, where she had the pleasure of spending many days hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Angie Millsaps

As Assistant Director of the HUB, Angie Millsaps brings over three years of dedicated financial aid experience, working with both PNC and the University of Pittsburgh. Angie is passionate about clearing the path for students to achieve their educational goals and thrives on making financial aid accessible and approachable. Angie will be supporting the students in the College of Engineering with any questions regarding their journey here at CMU. When she’s not advocating for student success, you can find her whipping up delicious recipes in the kitchen or diving into her favorite video games. Andrew "Drew" Karp

As a Student Services Specialist in The HUB, Drew works as a member of The HUB’s front line service team. In his current role, Drew assists with inquiries from the university community in person, via email and on the phone. Drew joined The HUB as a temporary employment services colleague in March 2021. He graduated from Grove City College with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, where he served as the chapter Vice President for the Intervarsity Missions Fellowship. Drew was recently the assistant manager at Waterworks Cinema and has also worked as a freelance writer. Drew enjoys playing the guitar and violin, and he also writes music.
