To welcome new graduate students to the Carnegie Mellon community and help support the transition to graduate study, the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, in partnership with many colleagues across campus, offers University-Wide New Graduate Student Orientation.
Attendance at the University-Wide New Graduate Student Orientation is highly encouraged but is not mandatory. For more information on new student onboarding, please visit the Incoming Graduate Students and Postdocs page.

2 - 3 p.m. | Your CMU Journey: Preparing for Academic & Professional Success | CFA Tent | All Incoming Graduate Students | Your CMU Journey–Your academic journey as a graduate student at CMU will be rigorous and rewarding, and a variety of campus services are dedicated to supporting you along the way and beyond. This session will introduce you to key people and resources including the Student Academic Success Center, University Libraries, Career & Professional Development Center, student leadership within the Graduate Student Assembly, and the Office of Graduate & Postdoctoral Affairs. Join us to learn more about preparing for your academic and professional success! |
3 - 4 p.m. | Campus Life, City Life: Maximizing Your Tartan Experience | CFA Tent | All Incoming Graduate Students | Your welcome and introduction to CMU and Pittsburgh continues during this program where you will get a chance to learn a bit more about opportunities in the city and on-campus. Current graduate student leaders, along with members of our Division of Student Affairs, will address topics including CMU traditions, dining options on-campus, Pittsburgh highlights, engagement opportunities, and more. Join us to learn how to maximize your experience as a Tartan and Pittsburgher! |
