Funni Awarded Microscopy and Microanalysis Student Award

Stephen Funni, MSE PhD student, was awarded the Microscopy and Microanalysis Student Award at the Microscopy and Microanalysis annual meeting. The award is given to the best abstracts submitted with students as first authors.Stephen Funni

Stephen’s paper, “Quantifying the local structure of incommensurately moderated tetragonal tungsten bronze from STEM images” uncovers a new method for studying local disorder correlations in crystalline materials from atomic resolution scanning transmission electron microscope images. The material studied has a complex crystal structure called tetragonal tungsten bronze and has a potential application in energy storage capacitors. The paper was accepted by APL Materials.
