Wu Places Second in Student Poster Contest at RAPID + TCT 2019 Conference

Ziheng Wu receives award at RAPID + TCT 2019 Conference

Dino Ziheng Wu, MSE PhD candidate in Professor Anthony Rollett’s research group, presented a poster titled ‘Study of the Spreadability and Printability of Hydride-Dehydride (HDH) Ti-6Al-4V Powder in an Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing Process’ and won the second place in the student poster contest in RAPID + TCT 2019, Detroit. This is a collaborated work with Professor Jack Beuth in the Mechanical Engineering Department at CMU and Professor Sneha P Narra from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is supported by NextManufacturing Center at CMU, the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technology Alliance (PITA) and AMETEK, Inc. The research team explored the feasibility to reduce cost of powder-based additive process by using non-standard powder and applied advanced synchrotron-based characterization techniques at APS to investigate the porosity formation mechanism.
