MSE 2009 Alumni receives ASM award

The ASM International Board of Trustees has named award program recipients for 2019. The awards program recognizes achievements of members of the materials science and engineering community.

“For seminal contributions in high temperature materials processing, innovative research at the frontier of Oxide Metallurgy, exemplary ASM International services, and extraordinary potential in  materials education and future leadership.“  Cong Wang will receive the ASM (American Society for Metals) Silver Medal award this year.

Professor Wang, graduated with a PhD from MSE in 2009, is now head of the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Northeastern University, China. He has maintained a personal and professional relationship with the department since his days at Carnegie Mellon and was delighted to share this exciting news with us.

Established in 2010, the honor of Silver Medal of the Society is to provide recognition to members who are in mid-career positions (typically 5 to 15 years of experience), for distinguished contributions in the field of materials science and engineering, and the society. The purpose of this award is to recognize leadership at an early stage and encourage individuals to grow, nurture, and further contribute to the growth of the profession, as well as the society.
