AIME publishes Harold W. Paxton's oral history

The American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) has honored MSE's Professor Emeritus, Harold W. Paxton by publishing his oral history. AIME Oral History page



AIME is one of five engineering Founding Societies founded in 1871 by 22 mining engineers in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It was one of the first national engineering societies established in the United States, and, along with ASCE (civil), ASME (mechanical), IEEE (chemical), is is known as an Engineering Founder Society. Together, the engineering Founder Societies form the United Engineering Foundation (UEF). In addition, there are four Member Societies, representing over 200,000 professionals worldwide, including:  
  • SME (Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration)
  • TMS (The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society)
  • AIST (Association for Iron & Steel Technology)
  • SPE (Association for Petroleum Engineers)
