Mangal Wins Prize in Data Science Challenge

Ankita Mangal, a PhD student in Professor Elizabeth Holm's group, has won a prize for her contribution to a data science challenge. The competition was hosted by Bosch on Kaggle.com The challenge was to predict internal failures using data on thousands of measurements and tests made for each component along an assembly line. Mangal and her collaborator Nishant Kumar submitted their solution to the IEEE BigData 2016 Special Symposium on Data Analytics for Advanced Manufacturing. Based on peer review scores, Bosch awarded the top three submissions cash prizes of $2000. Mangal will present her work at the symposium next month.
