Carnegie Mellon University

The well-being of every individual in the Carnegie Mellon University family is a top priority for the university.

The mission of CMUSafe is to empower the CMU community to say something if we see something... and to be active in building a safe community.

CMUSafe Ambassador Duties

  • Facilitating the distribution of emergency procedure information to faculty, staff and students.
  • Be familiar with your buildings' Emergency Action Plans.
  • Facilitate the safe evacuation of campus buildings during an emergency.
  • Familiarity with lifesaving device locations and emergency resources.
  • Participate in fire drills and annual refresher training
  • Report deficiencies or safety concerns

CMUSafe Ambassadors are vital to our community in supporting emergency preparedness and response.

The CMUSafe Ambassador Program 2.0 seeks to enhance and empower individuals, and features three levels of expertise to highlight those committed to community safety. Each level builds on the last by enhancing skills, providing new training opportunities, and new rewards as well. Additionally, all CMUSafe Ambassadors can look forward to the annual appreciation event in the fall.

All CMUSafe Ambassadors who complete the Basic level are provided with signage that can be posted to an office door or work area that identifies their location
