Our seventh annual Campus Bike Week is coming soon, with some exciting new offerings! Want to start riding around town, but not sure how? Or make your commute easier and more fun? Looking to meet other bike-friendly people? Get set with everything you need during Campus Bike Week from Sunday, Sept. 7, through Friday, Sept. 12.

Campus Bike Week Kickoff Fun Ride
Sunday, Sept. 7, 5:30-7 p.m.
Meet ~5:15, rolling at 5:30 from the Carnegie Library POGOH Station
This ride is led by Complete Streets at Pitt. Feel free to contact them with questions.

Tartan Bike Project Grand Opening and Bike Sale
Monday, Sept. 8, 3-7 p.m.
“Bike Cage” on the first floor of the Gates Garage
Celebrate the grand opening of our new on-campus bike shop, the Tartan Bike Project! It’s located in the first floor of the Gates Garage (previous bike sale location). We’ll be offering bike rentals, bike sales and appointments for bike repairs. After this event, regular shop hours will be Mon/Wed/Fri 3-6 p.m., so you’ll have plenty of other chances to visit.

Carnegie Mellon Bike Fair
Tuesday, Sept. 9, 12-4 p.m.
Merson Courtyard – outside the Cohon University Center
Join us for a Bike Fair! Get lots of help biking around town with free BikePGH bike maps and Urban Biking guides, info on CMU's new POGOH bikeshare benefit, Tartan Bike Project help with bike checks and advice, anti-theft bike registration, ways to advocate for safer streets around town and more.

Confident City Cycling Class
Tuesday, Sept. 9, 4-7 p.m.
The Pitt Bike Cave, outside Hillman Library on Pitt's Campus (230 S. Bouquet St.)
BikePGH’s Confident City Cycling class will get you safely out on the streets. Learn from certified instructors how to get ready to ride, basic bike handling skills, and safer, legal ways to navigate city streets. This three-hour on-bike class will start with drills on sheltered pavement and move to learning as a group on local streets. All participants must wear a helmet and know how to ride a bicycle.

Operation Illumination
Tuesday, Sept. 9, 5-7 p.m.
Sidewalk at Forbes and Morewood
BikePGH’s Operation Illumination program distributes free front and rear bike lights and helmets to those riding without them – while supplies last! All you need to do is stop by with your unlit bicycle to receive your own set of lights (or unprotected head, for a helmet).

Campus Bike Tour
Wednesday, Sept. 10, 5-6 p.m.
Meet at the Walking to the Sky Statue
Join us for a campus tour of all things related to biking! Find out about the best routes from campus to nearby points (including a few secret shortcuts), the somewhat-hidden location of our new Tartan Bike Project bike shop and more. Starts at 5 p.m. at the Walking to the Sky statue. Bike and helmet required. If you’d like to join but need a bike and/or a helmet, email Karen Brooks at kbr00ks@andrew.cmu.edu.

University Confident City Cycling Class
Thursday, Sept. 11, 4-7 p.m.

BikePGH, CMU and Pitt will co-host a Confident City Cycling class. Learn from certified instructors how to get ready to ride, basic bike handling skills, and safer, legal ways to navigate city streets. Friday Fun Ride
Friday, Sept. 12, 4 p.m.
Gather at 4 p.m., roll at 4:30 p.m. from the Pitt Bike Cave, outside Hillman Library on Pitt's Campus (230 S. Bouquet St.)
Wrap up Campus Bike Week with a leisurely social ride led by Pitt Bike Cave student mechanics. Bring your own bike or check out a POGOH bike to join. The group ride will depart from the Pitt Bike Cave’s Posvar Passage location at 4:30 p.m.
