Carnegie Mellon University’s Policy on Parental, Family, and Pregnancy Rights

At Carnegie Mellon University, we are committed to creating a welcoming, supportive, and equitable environment for everyone in our community. Our policy on parental, family, and pregnancy rights reflects this commitment by ensuring that all individuals are treated with fairness and without discrimination, whether you are a student, employee, or applicant.

We understand that parental, family, and pregnancy-related experiences are a natural part of life. The university is here to support you through these circumstances with the same level of care and consideration given to any other temporary medical condition.

This policy provides clear guidelines and protections to help make sure your academic or professional progress is not disrupted by challenges related to parenting or pregnancy. We encourage all members of the community to learn about these rights and to seek support when needed.
