APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR FALL 2025! Announcing the Osher at CMU Mini Parking Lease Program – A HUGE benefit for members!

We are excited to announce that the campus Transportation Department has established a new Osher mini parking lease program for the Osher at CMU program set to launch on July 15th for Fall 2025. This university pilot initiative aims to provide convenient and inexpensive parking solutions for our members at two prime campus parking locations close to Cyert Hall.

What You Need to Know

The Osher Mini Lease will allow members to park in either the open-air Morewood Parking Lot, located directly across from Cyert Hall next to the Tepper School on Forbes Ave, or the Collaborative Innovation Center (CIC) covered parking garage located off S. Neville Street. (check Google Maps or the CMU transportation website)  Each lease provides 10 passes per Osher term. Each pass grants all-day parking access (without in-and-out privileges).  If more passes are needed, a second 10-pass lease can be purchased.  Each use-or-lose lease expires at the end of the Osher terms (April, August, and December). If a garage is noted closed, you can still access parking as a Mini-Lease holder.

Flexibility and Convenience

Without an Osher Mini Lease the cost of parking on campus can run as high as $22.00 per day.  Because of these high costs, it is highly recommended that everyone who drives to campus purchase an Osher Mini Lease.  For the open-air Morewood Lot the cost is $60.00 ($6.00 per day).   If you are taking a 3-, 4-, or 5-day course per session, this expenditure is well worth it.  If you have typically parked in the East Campus Garage you would have paid at least $17.00 for up to three hours for one 5-day course or $22.00 for all day if you took more than one class per day.  For one 5-day course your out-of-pocket parking expenses would have been around $85.00.  With the Osher Mini-Lease your out-of-pocket cost for five full days of classes would now cost $60.00 while parking in the Morewood Lot and you’ll have 5 more passes that can be used until the end of the term.  Because of the 10 passes, with the Mini Lease, you can take so many more Osher classes. If 10 passes are not enough, you’ll be able to purchase a second 10-pass lease during the term. The cost of the mini-lease for the covered CIC Garage is $110.00 ($11.00 per day).

How to Obtain a Fall 2025 Lease

Getting an Osher Mini-Lease is easy:

1. Complete the Osher Mini-Lease form found both in your registration account.  If you are a prospect, a link to the lease application will come with your course confirmation. (Only members and active Prospects are eligible to purchase a Mini-Lease).
2. Once completed, Osher staff will process your request and forward it to the campus Transportation Office. 
3. Within three business days of applying, visit the Parking Office in the East Campus Garage to pay for and collect your lease.  Parking is free in the East Campus garage for a half hour.

While the leases are tied to either the Morewood Lot or the CIC Garage, members can opt to change their parking preference in future terms.
