Giving Tuesday is December 2nd: Why a Donation to the Osher at CMU Endowment Fund Makes a Lifelong Difference

When Osher at CMU started in 1992, the program was built on two types of donations: hands-on help and financial contributions. After going from 120 members in the first few years to over 1500 members currently, we continue rely on the donations made by our members, Study Leaders, and our volunteers.

The Bernard Osher Foundation awarded Osher at CMU two $1 million dollar endowments, one in 2009 and the other in 2013. Each year, a portion of the earnings from the two endowments supports our organization, while the principal remains intact.

In 2024, the Osher at CMU Board of Directors announced that we, as an organization, will be growing a third $1 million endowment. Building this new endowment for Osher at CMU means we’ll be able to create yet another reliable and sustainable source of funding to continue our program for years to come.

Donating to our Endowment Fund is more than helping meet today’s needs—it’s an investment in the future. We’ve built a multi-generational program, and we hope to continue to be for generations to come.

This Giving Tuesday, consider being part of Osher at CMU’s story by making a gift that lasts. By contributing to the Osher at CMU Endowment Fund, you’re not just giving—you’re building a legacy of impact that will continue to shape lives and generations for years to come.

Please help build our Fund For The Future Endowment by making a donation today.  To donate, please either send us your check, call the office (412-268-7489) with your credit card, or go to the donation tab on our website.

Thank you!
