Mapping the Future of the Humanities and Social Sciences
Monday, April 21, 2014, 4:00-5:45pm, Rangos 1 and 2, Cohon University Center
This event is part of a national discussion of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences' 2013 "Heart of the Matter" report on the state of the humanities and social sciences in America. The American Academy and CMU have convened this panel to discuss the rich and productive collaborations between humanities and social sciences and the sciences, arts, engineering and public policy.
Two distinguished members of the commission which wrote the report, Norman Augustine and Hunter Rawlings, join four Dietrich College faculty members on this panel. They will discuss the distinctive ways in which the humanities and social sciences have evolved at Carnegie Mellon, and how CMU’s social scientists and humanities scholars have engaged in rich and productive collaboration to raise questions and solve problems in the sciences, public policy, the arts, and engineering.
