Pittsburgh Paid Sick Days Act — A New Process for Submitting Requests Beginning Nov. 20

Starting on November 20, 2020, a new automated process in Workday will be available to process all paid sick leave requests for eligible employees in Pittsburgh. This replaces the pay worklet/form that was previously used in Workday to request this time.

The City of Pittsburgh Paid Sick Days Act went into effect on March 15, 2020. This Act gives eligible employees one hour of paid sick time for every 35 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours in a calendar year. Eligible employees may use paid sick days for their own illness or medical care, a family member's illness or medical care, or in the event of a declared public health emergency.

Starting November 20, 2020 requests will be made directly in the Workday system through a new process. This new Workday process will allow eligible employees to see their paid sick leave balance and make requests for paid sick leave, and supervisors will be prompted to approve or deny those requests. A Paid Sick Days System Guide will be available to assist employees with the new process.

Please visit the Paid Sick Days webpage for instructions on how to submit requests and other information related to the Paid Sick Days Act, including additional details regarding who is eligible.
