  • Sponsors will send invitations directly to inductees.
  • Inductees should report to Merson Courtyard by 1:10 p.m.  In case of rain, students should report to Kirr Commons.
  • A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.

4:30 p.m.

Senior Leadership Awards Ceremony (Invitation Only)
Wiegand Gym, first floor, Cohon University Center

  • This ceremony recognizes nominated seniors who have reflected upon their specific leadership contributions during their time at CMU.

6:30 p.m.

Honors Ceremonies (Invitation Only)

  • Undergraduate students receiving university or college honors will be presented with their honors cords or medallions.  Students will be notified of their status in the spring.
  • Ceremonies last approximately one hour.
  • Tickets are not issued for these events.
  • Some may be preceded or followed by a reception.

Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) Undergraduate Commencement Presentation

  • This is a presentation for undergraduates in the HCI additional major and their families and peers.

Doctor's Hooding Robing

  • Robing is for ceremony participants only.

Doctor's Hooding Ceremony

  • At this ceremony, all doctoral graduates will be individually hooded and recognized on stage.
  • Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
  • Tickets are not issued and there is no limit on the number of guests.
  • The ceremony lasts approximately 90 minutes.
  • A reception will immediately follow in the Carnegie Music Hall Foyer.
  • Doctoral graduates must register for the Doctor's Hooding Ceremony no later than Friday, March 20, 2020.

  • Seating is first come, first served. 
  • All guests must be seated by 10:15 a.m. for the procession of graduates into Gesling Stadium.

10:15 a.m.

All guests must be seated in the stadium by this time for the procession of graduates

  • Stadium entrance will be closed beginning at 10:15 a.m. and will reopen following the conclusion of the processional

11 a.m.

Main Commencement Ceremony
Gesling Stadium

  • The ceremony begins with the procession of graduates and will include addresses from the student speaker and keynote speaker, as well as a charge from the president of the university.
  • Seating is first come, first served.
  • The ceremony lasts approximately two hours and takes place outdoors rain or shine.  Gesling Stadium is NOT covered and there is no shadePlease plan accordingly.
  • Indoor simulcasts and a webcast will be available.
  • Graduates will receive their diplomas at department/college diploma ceremonies which take place throughout the weekend.  A complete schedule of department/college diploma ceremonies can be found here.
