Strategic Thinking Through Simulation
Creating bridges between what students learn in class and real-world scenarios involving complex political issues is an important focus for Dan Silverman, assistant professor at the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Strategy and Technology (CMIST). This spring, Silverman teamed up with Laurie Eisenberg, professor emerita at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to bring a simulated regional summit to students in his course about war and peace in the contemporary Middle East.

Where Power Lies: Conference Explores Civil-Military Relations
Exploring concepts ranging from the intersection of politics and military affairs to artificial intelligence to just war theory, the 64th annual United States Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference (NAFAC) provided attendees, including CMIST student Catherine (Ekaterini) Vassiliadi, the opportunity to learn from and connect with experts in the field of foreign affairs.
