Counseling and Psychological Services

CAPS is available for training and consultation for staff who have questions about how to support distressed students and assist them in accessing mental health services on campus. CAPS is happy to work with interested departments to develop mental health related training opportunities by request.

Office of Risk Initiatives

The Director of Risk Initiatives closely partners with Carnegie Mellon colleagues in maintaining appropriate risk management strategies and practices consistent with our shared commitments and priorities.

The Office of Risk Initiatives currently provides training on “Enterprise Risk Management at Carnegie Mellon—A Strategic Overview” to any group that is interested.

Finance Division

The Finance Division is responsible for managing the financial resources of the University. Finance offers several courses focusing on financial processes and procedures, as well as the university’s financial systems. Finance courses are offered as either hands-on, instructor-led session, a full length web-based course, or a shorter web-based tutorial.

Professional Development Services

Professional Development Services provides opportunities to staff members that support knowledge, skill and competency development. Staff members may participate in a workshop, be a part of a networking group, serve as a member of the Speaker’s Bureau or become a Year One coach. Programs, workshops, and retreats may also be developed by one of our staff members and tailored to meet the specific needs of your department or organization.

The Human Resources Information Technology Team (HRIT) supports and provides training on systems that are used internally in Human Resources and university-wide, including:

RAC's mission statement:

To provide a university wide arena for discussion of those topics impacting research and the administration of research at Carnegie Mellon. To address the training needs of the campus community in the area of research administration. To facilitate the dissemination of information that may impact the administration of research.

Information Security Office

The Information Security Office (ISO) provides an online course entitled Security 101 to faculty, staff and Ph.D. students to raise awareness about data and information system security requirements along with related policies, procedures, and guidelines. 

The ISO also offers on-line resources and conducts training upon request on Identity Theft and Identity Finder software.

Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health. University Health Services helps Carnegie Mellon students, staff and faculty get and stay healthy. We do this through individual clinical services, health education programs, and campus initiatives.

Institutional Research & Analysis

The Office of Institutional Research & Analysis (IR&A) gathers and analyzes data for use in university-wide academic and administrative decision making and assessment activities.

IR&A offers a four-part workshop series that follows the typical research progression of developing research questions, conducting the research, analyzing the data, and sharing the results.
