SURF Grants

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program grants $3,500 to students for eight to ten weeks of full-time summer research in any field they choose.

If you have an idea for a research project and a faculty advisor willing to supervise your research, you should apply in early March. Students may work alone or in a group but must apply individually.

Independent Study

Many undergraduates take the opportunity to perform in-depth research with CEE faculty. Our faculty are very accessible and can offer opportunities to work on research projects with graduate students.

Contact a faculty member whose research interests you to discuss developing a project or to join an existing project.

Honors Research

Juniors with an accumulated QPA of 3.5 will receive an invitation to participate in the College of Engineering Honors Research Program.

Faculty members identify research topics for students to work on during their senior year. Students’ research is culminated with a poster competition at the Undergraduate Research Symposium Meeting of the Minds.

Summer Research Internships

CEE offers paid summer research internships to undergraduates and masters students. The 12-week program gives students the opportunity to work alongside faculty members with current projects while getting hands-on research experience.

Students who wish to apply for summer research internships must submit a written application and go through an interview before they are accepted. Information is emailed to students in mid to late spring.
