Explore Ideas and Connect in a Planning Discussion About Travel!

The American jurist and Supreme Court Justice, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., is widely attributed for saying, “A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” This is an eloquent reminder that personal growth and lifelong learning can leave permanent marks on our world view, making it impossible to return to our original perspective.

Osher at CMU is considering a new Special Interest Group entitled “Travel, Explore, Connect.” As a first step, we plan to hold two separate, 90-minute, in-person discussions on Friday, July 24, 2026 in Cyert Hall, Hawkins Conference Room. The first session will begin at 10:00 a.m.; and, the second at 1:00 p.m. Each session will be limited to 12 members, on a first-come first-serve basis.

Are you interested in travel? What are your perspectives on places and experiences already lived — or still on your bucket list? Do you see opportunities for Osher at CMU members to travel, explore and connect? We are seeking your thoughts and ideas about how this proposed Special Interest Group might work.
