Associate Vice President, Facilities Management Services

Charity Anderson is the Associate Vice President of Facilities Management Services at Carnegie Mellon University. Since joining CMU in 2020 as the Director of Facilities Management, she has advanced through the organization to her current role.

Charity leads a team of 350 personnel responsible for the facility services, infrastructure management, utility operations, sustainability practices, grounds and custodial care essential to supporting the university’s 150-acre Pittsburgh campus. Under her leadership, the organization drives operational excellence through data-driven metrics, robust feedback systems and strategic workforce development initiatives designed to foster long-term growth and success.

Prior to her career in higher education, Charity served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps, directing high-consequence portfolios across construction management, facilities engineering and contingency operations globally. Following her military service, she oversaw facilities and grounds operations for the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C. Serving within the Architect of the Capitol, she championed the agency’s mission of historic stewardship by directing the preservation, operational logistics and comprehensive campus care required to maintain the dignity and architectural integrity of the landmark.

Charity holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University. She resides in the Pittsburgh area with her husband and two children.
